Back before they changed things, Superman had his powers as a baby, and there was a story called 'The Amazing Tots of Smallville'. In it, there were some Prohibition-era liquor smugglers, and among their weapons, they had chocolate covered hand grenades. Superbaby mistook it for a chocolate covered Easter egg and swallowed it. When it went off in his stomach, everybody thought he burped. That was the first time I ever saw him doing anything like that.



I know he's done similar things since, including drinking nitroglycerine on the TV show starring George Reeves.



In a story set in the 1970's, with the young son of his friend Pete Ross, Jon Ross figured out Clark's secret identity when he looked in his bathroom for a bandaid, and found that Clark had nothing in the medicine cabinet behind his bathroom mirror but a comb and hairbrush! As Superman, he didn't need to shave, never cut himself to need a bandaid, never got colds or flu or indigestion or cavities or hemmorhoids or any of the other things that make people go out and buy stuff that they keep on hand to get well. So he realized the only person like that that never got sick or had to shave was Superman.



The irony was that Jon's father Pete Ross also secretly knew Clark's identity, and never told Clark, but used the knowledge to cover up for him and help him whenever he needed to slip away and change. This was back when there was still a Superboy.



After Jon told him about that little hole in his cover, Clark went shopping and bought a toothbrush and toothpaste, aspirin and bandaids and other things that everybdoy else has in their medicine cabinet, so it's not suspicious anymore. So he has mouthwash and probably uses it when he needs to.



Also, for getting rid of those really pesky odors, Superman can gargle with red hot molten lava or hydrochloric acid...!

However, because of his status as a hero, you can also assume that DC will normally go out of their way to avoid showing it.
