Why does Superman: The Escape ride at Six Flags Magic Mountian only go about 2/3 of the way up the track?

is it too expensive to launch the car to the whole height, or is it poor engineering, or what? Why does Superman: The Escape ride at Six Flags Magic Mountian only go about 2/3 of the way up the track?Actually, the reason is because it's an old ride. When it first opened in 1998, it went to 100 mph and reached near the top. Now it needs a lot of refurbishment if it is to reach the top again, and Six Flags doesn't want to pay a huge amount of money for one of their less popular rides. Also, it uses tons of electricity, this is why you will never see both sides running at once. The other answer is false, there are brakes at the top to keep the car from going too far, which it has never been in any danger of doing. Why does Superman: The Escape ride at Six Flags Magic Mountian only go about 2/3 of the way up the track?well to answer your question it's because it goes up as high as it can but the rest of the track is there to stop the car from flying out at the top. the next time you go look closely that it stops when the tracks have some weird chains and then the car falls down. you can also listen to it and it will make some clicking noises that means it's trying to stop it and push it back down. (the car is run by compressed air shot out and not by electricity)Why does Superman: The Escape ride at Six Flags Magic Mountian only go about 2/3 of the way up the track? The real answer to your question is...

Maintenance issues. The cars don't speed up to 100 MPH anymore because of the technical problems it has.

^^ Once the car has reached it's programed speed it shoots up the tower and then back down using only gravity (pure freefall). The tower doesn't have any chains or any sort of power to stop the car. There are. however. brakes at the very top of the tower just in case the car reaches the top and it can stop it, but thats never happened.
