I used to think that when other comic book series were cancelled and rebooted, those were the "Big Four" that were exempt from the process due to their significance to comics. Did you think the same before the DC reboot?Did you think that Action Comics, Detective Comics, Superman and Batman had the grandfather clause on reboots?Actually Superman was relaunched after Crisis on Infinite Earth's. The numbering of course ended up reverting.Did you think that Action Comics, Detective Comics, Superman and Batman had the grandfather clause on reboots?Superman would be a lot cooler if he had a sexy emotionless voice like Batman.Did you think that Action Comics, Detective Comics, Superman and Batman had the grandfather clause on reboots? No.Did you think that Action Comics, Detective Comics, Superman and Batman had the grandfather clause on reboots?
the only thing close to that is that the Bob Kane Estate (Kane being the creator of Batman) owns the rights to Bats, and part of the deal is that DC cannot KILL Batman -- which is why he was only Crippled by Bane in the 90's Knightfall arc unlike Superman who was Killed by Doomsday
that said this is hardly the first reset seeing as we have already had the Golden and Silver ages not to mention the countless Crisis arcs which usually serve to reset somebody's world.
Superman's origin story was reset at least 2 times since the 1986 Crisis/Man of Steel events with little fanfare, the only reason the new reset is news is that it marks new costumes and Numbers at the same time (and Superman's costume is losing the traditional red trunks that are so often mocked as wearing his underwear over his pants)
