Based on the original comics created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster? Not referencing to the tv show smalleville, but how did Superman and Lex Luthor become the worst of enemies?Dear Freeman:
Believe it or not, Superboy and Lex Luthor began as the best of friends. Here is the synopsis:
Shortly after Lex Luthor arrived in Smallville, Superboy flew out to meet the community's newest resident. Before they could shake hands, however, a green kryptonite meteor landed at Superboy's feet.
Luthor, then a farmboy, used a bulldozer to push the massive boulder of kryptonite into a deep pond, thereby saving Superboy's life.
In gratitude, Superboy constructed for Luthor a science laboratory so that he could pursue his ambition to become the world's greatest scientist.
Luthor set enthusiastically to work. In short order, Luthor had unlocked the secret of life itself, creating a crude form of protoplasm.
Wishing to thank Superboy for making it all possible, Luthor next devoted himself to creating an antidote to kryptonite.
Shortly after creating the antidote, however, Luthor accidentally knocked over a flask filled with a volatile chemical. It started a fire, and Luthor was trapped in the flames.
Fortunately, Superboy arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire with his super-breath.
Unfortunately, in the process, Superboy blew together two flasks, one containing the kryptonite antidote, and the other containing an acid. The reaction of the chemicals destroyed Luthor's protoplasm and the scientific notes by means of which he might have replicated it. Moreover, the released fumes destroyed Luthor's hair follicles, rendering him as bald as a cue ball for the rest of his life.
It was an accident, of course. But Luthor, enraged beyond all reason at seeing his greatest scientific experiment destroyed, lashed out at Superboy, unjustly accusing him of destroying his creation on purpose, out of jealousy of his (Luthor's) scientific genius.
Luthor has never forgiven Superboy, and now lives only for the day that he will destroy the Boy of Steel, and thereby prove that he is the better man. And, of course, every time they clash, innocent people are caught in the crossfire.
Some story, huh?
