Are you serious about Batman better than Superman?

Just a comment really. Superman is the only superhero whose alter ego is mortal and powerless, his true identity is Superman. Batman is a human with gadgets, there would be no way for him to defeat Superman in a fair fight....it would be like bringing nothing to a gunfight, an obviously silly decision with dire consequences. So suck it naysayers. Oh and um...the VMA's come on tonight right? Are you serious about Batman better than Superman?First of all, define the term "fair fight". Because if you're inferring that Batman fight Superman with no support or ace-in-the-hole or some sort of an equalizer. Then that's not so much a "fair fight" as it is a suicide mission or exhibition of self-destruction. Superman is completely and utterly useless without his powers. Batman on the other hand (at least in the last issue of Superman/Batman that I read) has or had Superman's powers and was a freakin' problem. This is the same guy who with nothing more than a battle ax, fought off an onslaught of Doomsdays flowing out of a boom-tube on Apokalips and was dispatching them faster and more skillfully than Superman could one (which killed him, by the way. In case you forgot). Batman doesn't know what a "fair fight" is, because he was trained (amongst other experts and masters of various martial arts) by freakin' ninjas. Who's sole occupation and purpose for hundreds of years has been the art of winning, not "fair fighting" . So to take that away from Batman in any situation is to try to take away his "true identity": "the most dangerous man on the planet". Your precious Superman's words, not mine. Are you serious about Batman better than Superman?
Why do people always have to argue about stuff like this. They are both individual great characters, two sides of the same coin if you will.

I just dont understand, they are the two greatest characters in the history of comics and probably all other literature.

superman is stronger then batman (batman cant lift the Earth but superman can ;) )Are you serious about Batman better than Superman?dude .. batman is still better then superman, its fact more people will rate batman more then superman. this is not based purely on brute strenght in general, batman is smarter.. his a human with absolute 0 powers yet he fights crime.. that right there automatically makes him better then superman. that's y his called the worlds greatest detective,

superman has powers take those powers away and his just a normal guy, where as batman is a normal guy, who fights crime only using his simple gadgets and his whits

thats y people will rather rate batman more then superman and say his better, superman dose not have any natural abilities, if you took him away from earth and put him back on his own planetAre you serious about Batman better than Superman?
If Batman can bring the Kryptonite from his utility belt faster than he can say "oh shoot, it's Superman", then he'll win. If not then he's dead.
Let's not forget that Batman has unlimited wealth that he uses to create his crime fighting tools/toys.Batman has a so called "dark side" he understand the criminal/evil mind and uses this knowledge to his advantage. Batman is also a member of the Justice League and the leader of the Outsiders. Bat's relationship with Superman is the longest crime fighting duo ( other than Robin) in comic book history. When you take all these factors together and realize that Batman has sized up Superman more so than the other way around, Bat's wins every time. Are you serious about Batman better than Superman?
I've seen this question too many times...and the answers so many times...Batman can beat superman with kryptonite (seriously?!?) I mean in that case I, you, my dog, a mouse, could all beat superman with kryptonite...doesn't even have to be Batman...so how special is Batman now, Batman fans? haha!!! Supes all the way!!!!
super man is just better !
Yes, Batman would lose to Superman in a fight, but Batman is still better. Batman has a much more mature and violent storyline than superman. Example, Superman is a nice person with a blue suit and red undies on top. Batman lives in a realistic world, where there are real threats and realistic situations.

Also, the Dark Knight was the best movie of all time on the TV show 20 to 1, and it has won more awards than all the Superman movies put together.
I dunno who'd win in a fight, but Superman bores me. He has it too easy %26amp; his villains are lame %26amp; that costume.... (Lex is okey though, but I'm still put-off by the Silver Age %26amp; Crisis).

What's not to like about Bats? He's getting nuttier by the decade, he's completely uncampy, %26amp; the morbid bastard living deep inside your heart laughs at his emotional baggage. Plus he has awesome villains %26amp; everyone has better costumes.

Supes isn't exactly known for his brains. It always feels like cheating when he's around; like playing a shooter in god mode. Kinda cheapens the stories. That's why Bats is more intriguing.
I think it would be more like bringing a gun against the US army
Superman hasn't been consistent for a very long period of time.... ever. (not as long as Batman has somewhat managed) Superman's powers (according to a bunch of comic people who breath this stuff) have ranged from "Super" to "Godlike." Therefore- sadly- this would be like comparing "The Stages of Psychological Development" and Oranges. (not even in the same category)

When Superman's powers stay reasonably the same for awhile- then maybe we can compare them.
There is a great deal of argument to be had here. True, Superman's alter ego is Clark Kent, who is a powerless mortal, but Superman's true personality more closely mirrors that of Kent than Superman.

On the flip side of the coin, Bruce Wayne is more Batman than he is Bruce Wayne. By that, I mean that his true personality has more in common with Batman than it does with Playboy Bruce. In this situation, Bruce is the mask, Batman the real personality.

Also depends what you mean by a fair fight, and the characters themselves come into play a lot more. Sure, Superman COULD blast Bats with heat vision from space, but would he? Superman isn't that cruel. It's not within the character to use his powers like that. Bats on the other hand could be cruel, and it isn't beneath him to harm or incapacitate Superman if the need arises.
